About Me

I was born and raised in the beautiful coastal city of Chennai, in India. I speak Tamil, English and French fluently and basic German. I was fascinated by the structure and musicality of French in high school and pursued my higher studies in the language. I hold a bachelor’s (B.A) and a master’s degree (M.A) in French. My experience as a Teacher in French in India to students from different linguistic backgrounds has motivated me to study further the role of one’s mother tongue in learning a foreign language.

My research interests include Second Language Acquisition, Comparative Study of Languages and Morpho-Syntax. I am a doctoral student at the University of Calgary and I’m grateful to receive funding from Fall 2023. I chose to do my research here at UCal, thanks to the specific interdisciplinary program offered in Applied Linguistics by the School of Languages, Literatures and Cultures where I can choose to study my preferred subjects.

In my free time, I prefer to do handcrafts. I practice calligraphy and crochet. I also like to play the piano and sing.
